On Tuesday 7th September Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their 9th
Production Sale from the renowned “Whiteley Hey Flock” on behalf of Messrs Slater.
A pre sale pen inspection by prospective buyers indicated that trade would be electric.
Mr Slater’s females were outstanding, and all Shearling Rams possessing power, great
skins and exceptional shape, which caught everyone’s eye, with many buyers
returning from previous years, and new buyers attending from all four corners of the
UK. Thus resulting in wonderful prices and fantastic averages.
Averages
• 40 2-3sh Ewes averaged £202.80, to a top of £240 to Messrs M Williams
• 92 Shearling Gimmer's averaged £268.40 to a top of £420 to Mr M Brennand
• 113 Ewe Lambs averaged £115.99, to a top of £150 to Messrs Jones
• 103 Shearling Rams averaged £770.36 to a top of £2,100 to Messrs Campbell,
with a further 8 Rams over the £1,000 barrier
